California state Senator Janet Nguyen is not letting Earth Day go to waste. Nguyen announced she is teaming with the North Orange County branch of the Surfrider Foundation to host a cleanup on Saturday, April 22nd.

“I’m partnering with the Surfrider Foundation, North Orange County to host an Earth Day Beach Cleanup in Seal Beach,” tweeted Nguyen. “Our beaches and environment need our help to keep clean and safe for residents, visitors, and our sea creature friends.”

The pamphlet Nguyen pushed out says the cleanup runs from 8-11 a.m. and provides an email address to RSVP.

The Surfrider Foundation is a group that fights for plastic reduction, ocean protection, beach access, clean water, and more.

“The Surfrider Foundation is dedicated to the protection and enjoyment of the world’s ocean, waves and beaches, for all people, through a powerful activist network,” its website reads.

The group recently sent more than 150 activists to Washington, D.C. to advance policies for “clean water on our beaches, a plastic free ocean, and resilient coastline.”

Nguyen continues her track record of paying back to the community with this upcoming event. She was previously awarded the ‘We Give Thanks 2004 Women of Vision Award.’ The honor recognizes women who have offered exemplary services to the community.
